Introduction:

Hello everyone, thanks for being here today. It is indeed an honor to be given the opportunity to speak here today.

Attention Getter:

Mothers are gems. They are yet the most beautiful gift the world has bestowed on us humans. In Brenda Hunter’s book, The Power of Mother Love casts a vision for moms.

She says,

“A mother’s love shapes cultures and individuals. While most mothers know that their  love and emotional availability are vital to their children’s well being, many of us do not understand the profound and long-lasting impact we have in developing our young children’s brains, teaching them first lessons of love, shaping their consciences…”

She went on to say that even though the society wills women to seek their worth and personal dreams, their children, who are these women best selves, hearts, love, reason to live, usually bring them back home.

SPEECH BODY:

If we decide to go into the reasons why our mothers should be celebrated every day, we will take the whole time in the world. A single day is not enough to adequately quantify the gratitude in my heart towards mothers. But as courtesy demands, on this day, I, in the joy and gratitude would show reasons why we ought to give our mothers all the love and celebration they deserve.

First of all, we have to remember that if it wasn’t for our mothers, we wouldn’t be alive today. This air we breathe in wouldn’t have been possible, because we would be inexistent in the first place. This woman you call mother is the one who carried you in her belly for nine months, going through excruciating pain, losing her body shape, having to sleep at a certain position, waiting for you as a baby to kick in a bid to remind herself that you were still inside of her. And the time she stayed at the hospital, when the doctor and midwives chided her to push, to try harder. Even though the pain almost took her life away, she kept pushing because she wanted to see your face. If nothing else, we should be grateful to our mothers for this.

Furthermore, these mothers are the ones who provide emotional support for every single one of us. Was it when her touch and warmth was all we cared for? Or her voice in our ears? Or when you just need somewhere to pour out all your childish thoughts and feelings, and her ears are all you’ve got? They make sure they do their best to avoid anybody getting hurt.

Mothers are forgiving, understanding, and caring in all facets of these words. She is also the one who teaches us the basic knowledge of life. “Make sure you wear clean underwear.” “Do not move with such friends.” “This is what is right. Always do this.” Even though when we were told these words, we met them with disgust and disagreement, but we know and believe that all these are meant to mold us into responsible, respectable, and great human beings.

CONCLUSION:

Mothers should be celebrated every single day. This day that has been set aside isn’t enough to appreciate the things they have done in our lives. Love and cherish them, and remind them of this constantly. I love you, mom.
